Naylor Abstract Among the greatest health risks to Americans are cardiovascular disease (CVD), diabetes, and obesity. The risks of these conditions are increased by countless risk factors. This paper focuses on the effects that sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs)–colas, other carbonated sugar-sweetened beverages, and non-carbonated sugar-sweetened beverages–have on the prevalence of these three health risks.
